Nail Venturous - The Shimmer Effect

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!!

This week's Twinsie Tuesday prompt is to share our favorite discontinued polish.  Honestly, I couldn't think of a favorite discontinued polish, but I do have quite a few polishes (especially indies) in my untrieds that were discontinued after I purchased them.  So, I decided to pick The Shimmer Effect by Nail Venturous Lacquer.  Do you guys remember that brand?

Nail Venturous no longer makes polishes.  This brand was famous for Floam.  Nail polish lovers went crazy for it.

Anyhoo, I received this polish in a swap from Crystal.  It's a deep purple base with a mixture of gold and green glitters.  It reaches full opacity and has a really good formula.  Here I used two coats with no top coat.

I love the uniqueness of this polish.  I have nothing like it in my stash.  It makes me sad when really good indie brands go away.  Don't you agree?  Have you ever tried this brand?  What's your favorite discontinued polish?

Orly - Boho Bonnet

Hi everyone!!  Happy Monday!

For Monday Blues, I have a blue mani to share with you using a few Orly polishes.

Orly Boho Bonnet is a light dusty blue creme that I wanted for a while.  I finally ordered it from Amazon two months ago and I love it.  It has a great formula and dries quickly.  It was opaque in two easy coats.

I decided to do a dry water marble, which I learned about from Lakeisha.  She shared a link of a mani that Nailderella did using this technique.  You can see that post here.  For the marble I used Orly Boho Bonnet, Sapphire Silk and Wild Wisteria.  After applying the marble to the nail, I used a silver striper to add some sparkle to the design.

While this technique is easier than a water marble, it was still a little challenging.  I plan to practice though ;0).  I really liked how this turned out.  What do you guys think?  Have you ever tried the dry water marble technique before?

Brush Stroke Nail Art - Color Club Shift Into Neutral

Hi everyone!!

Today, I have a manicure I created using a few polishes from the Color Club Shift Into Neutral collection.

For this manicure, I used Barely There as a base.  I then randomly added brush strokes of Blank Canvas, New-Tral, Get A Mauve On It and Midnight Mulberry.  I then topped it off with top coat.

I really like how artsy this manicure turned out.  It's not bright, but still captures attention.

What do you guys think of this look?   Have you tried anything like this before?

Twinsie Tuesday - Pinterest Inspiration

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

For this week's Twinsie Tuesday post, we got inspiration from Pinterest.  I don't know about you, but I have a whole board dedicated to nail art inspiration.  There are so many great nail looks out there.

Here's the manicure I did.

My inspiration came from Pshiiit.  Here's the look below.

For my interpretation, I used Finger Lickin' Lacquer Peachy Keen as a base and a silver nail polish striper.

This look is simple, but I love it!!  I love wearing abstract designs on my nails and these colors go really well together.

What do you guys think of this look?  Do you go to Pinterest for nail art inspiration?

Don't forget to check out the inspiration the other Twinsies used for their manis this week!

Monday Blues - Butterflies

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!  Happy Monday!

For today's Monday Blues post, I have a mani that I created using some Barielle polishes from the Barielle Gentle Breeze collection.

For this manicure I used the reverse stamping technique and while it's not perfect, I really liked the way it turned out.

I did a gradient with Barielle Gray Sky, Heaven Sent and Under the Sea and used a butterfly pattern from the Vivid Lacquer 033 stamping plate.  I used pink, green and yellow for the colors in the butterflies.

This manicure makes me think of spring.  Yayyy Spring is finally here!!  Whoo, just had a moment ;0).

What do you guys think of this look?  Have you tried reverse stamping?

This is my first time trying Finger Lickin' Lacquer polishes and I was very impressed with them.  They all have really good formulas.  Lilac Festival and Peachy Keen were sheerer than I expected, but they reached full opacity in three coats.  I think Birthday Cake would be better layered over a similar color though.  I prefer not to see VNL.

My personal favorites are Lilac Festival and Peachy Keen.  They are so pretty!!!  She Works Hard For The Honey is also a really fun glitter.  I like the variety of this collection.

What do you guys think of these polishes?  Have you tried any Finger Lickin' Lacquer polishes?
