He Picks My Polish

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

It's time for another installment of #hepicksmypolish.  I was very much in love with the combo my husband chose this time around.  He chose Cosmetic Arts Violet and Essie Bikini So Teeny.  Here's what I did with them.

I have the Cosmetic Arts polish on my index and Bikini So Teeny on my pinky.  On my middle finger, I used the Cosmetic Arts as a base, then added dots with Bikini So Teeny.  On my ring finger, I used Bikini So Teeny as a base, then used some chevron Nail Vinyls and added Cosmetic Arts Violet.  I got the idea for my ring finger from a look Lakeisha did a few weeks ago for Cult Nails.  I topped the mani off with Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

I love blue and purple together and these two worked really well.  I really love how this mani turned out!

What do you think of this #hepicksmypolish mani?  Do you like blue and purple together?

Twinsie Tuesday - Inspired by Your Hometown

Hi everyone!!

For this week's Twinsie Tuesday theme, we have to do nails inspired by our hometown.  I was born in Guyana (Georgetown to be specific) and though I've lived in New York since I was eight years old, I still consider it to be my hometown.  So I did a manicure, using the colors in Guyana's flag.

For my base, I used a Limited Edition Barry M polish, B 327, a bright yellow creme base.  I then added some red, white, black and green dots.  I topped it off with Underground Nails Quickie Dry Top Coat.

Here is a look at of Barry M B327 on its own.

I really love how my mani turned out.  I don't think I would have used this color combination if it wasn't for this theme.  It turned out to be a really fun look.

What do you guys think of this mani?  What's your hometown?

Color Club - Super Saturday Teal

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!! Happy Monday!

Today, I have a lovely teal from Color Club to share with you.  Super Saturday Teal has a crelly finish and a good formula.  The first coat was slightly patchy, but it leveled out with the second coat.  I used three coats for full opacity.

Artificial Light

I then added an accent by doing a gradient with China Glaze Electric Beat and Super Saturday Teal.  I then added stripes with a silver striper brush.  I topped it off with Underground Nails Quickie Dry Top Coat.

Artificial Light
I love a good teal, so I love Super Saturday Teal!  It's really pretty.

What do you guys think of Super Saturday Teal?  Do you like wearing teal on your nails?

Indie Sunday - Pretty Serious Spam

Hi everyone!!

For Indie Sunday, I have spam from Pretty Serious to share with you.

Forbidden Fruit

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
Forbidden Fruit is a white, almost gray, creme with shimmer.  Application is streaky on the first coat, but it levels out nicely with the second coat and is fully opaque.  I used Rejuvacote as a base, two coats of Forbidden Fruit and Underground Cosmetics Quickie Dry Top Coat.

Crystal Lake

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
Crystal Lake is a blue shimmer base with blue and silver hex glitters.  The base is sheer, so you don't really get full opacity.  You can get good coverage with three coats though.  Above I used three coats with no base or top coat.

Elliot

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
Elliot was on my wish list for a while and it did not disappoint.  It's a gorgeous blue creme packed with shimmer.  The formula is good and it's opaque in two easy coats.  Here I used two coats with no top coat.

Emma Louise

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
Emma Louise is a limited edition polish that was released last year, so unfortunately it's no longer available.  It's a purple base with small purple and green glitter and is packed with microglitter.  My glitters settled and though I shook it up a bit, I wasn't able to get too many on the nail.  You can still get the idea of the beauty of it though.  The polish applied really well and was opaque in two coats.  Here I used two coats with Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

Nightopia

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Sunlight
Nightopia is a green with gold shimmer.  It has metallic finish, but with minimal brush strokes.  The polish applied really well and was opaque in two coats.  I used no top coat here.

Party By The Pool

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Sunlight
Party By The Pool is described as a peacock jelly swimming with flecks of green and blue.  It applies well and requires three thin coats for full opacity.  I really love the sparkle in this polish.  It really does look like they're swimming in the polish.  I used no top coat here.

Rae's Rainbow

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Sunlight
Rae's Rainbow is a blue jelly with shimmer packed with multicolored glitter.  It's definitely a polish for glitter lovers.  It applies well, with great coverage in each coat.  I used no top coat here.  This polish is limited edition and will not be restocked once it's sold out.

What do you guys think of these Pretty Serious polishes?  Do you have any favorites?

Zoya - Claudine

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

Today, I have a polish to share with you from Zoya's Fall 2013 Satin collection.  Lakeisha was sweet enough to send this to me.  Claudine is a gunmetal metallic polish packed with shimmer and it has a good formula.  It applies well and is opaque in two easy coats.  Here I used Rejuvacote as a base, two coats of Claudine and Underground Nails Quickie Dry Top Coat.

Artificial Light

Claudine is a simple, but nice polish.  I really like the shimmer in it.  I think it will work really well as a base for nail art too.

What do you guys think of Claudine?  Do you like wearing shades like these on your nails?

Catrice - Purple Reign

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

I have a Catrice polish to share with you today called Purple Reign.  I got this polish from Rocio in a swap.  She lives in Spain.

Purple Reign, is a lovely purple with blue and purple microshimmer.  It's so much prettier in person.  The formula was good and opaque in two coats.  Here I used Rejuvacote, two coats of Purple Reign and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

Artificial Light
This polish is really a beauty!  It's a lovely shade of purple and the shimmer in it is just gorgeous.  I was a bit disappointed though because the second day I was wearing this, the polish got a bit dull.  I tried adding clear polish to see if it would bring out the shimmer once again, but it didn't work :(.  So while it was still a beautiful purple to wear, I was longing for the look it had in the bottle.

What do you guys think of Purple Reign?  Have you this polish?

Busy Girl Nails Spring Nail Art Challenge - Flowers

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

The theme for this week's Busy Girl Nails Challenge is flowers.  So here's the mani I came up with.

For this look, I used nail tattoos from Kiss.

I remembered to take a picture out of the packaging after tearing one of the strips off, smh.

The steps of applying these nail tattoos are as follows:

1. Apply polish; let dry.
2. Select nail tattoo; tear from strip.
3. Peel from clear layer; place tattoo face down onto nail.
4. Dab tattoo with wet sponge/towel; wet tattoo thoroughly.
5. Hold sponge in place for 20-30 seconds; gently remove paper backing.
6. Seal with top coat.

The steps were very easy to do and created a great design.

Artificial Light
For my base, I used Essence Top of the Ice-Stream, which I received from the lovely Chiro.  It's a white crelly base with blue shimmer.  It's super pretty, but the formula was really streaky.  It actually took four coats to be fully opaque and even :(.  Below, I used four coats.

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
Top of the Ice-Stream is so pretty!!  I just wish it didn't require so many coats.

What do you guys think of this flower mani?  Do you ever wear flowers on your nails?

Nina Ultra Pro - Never Glum Plum

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

Today, I have a polish from Nina Ultra Pro to share with you.  Never Glum Plum is a dusty plum/purple creme.  The first coat was slightly patchy when applied, but it was fully opaque and even with the second coat.  Here I used Rejuvacote as a base and two coats of Never Glum Plum.  No top coat.

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light (Light Box)
I then added a double accent with Kleancolor Midnight Seduction, a holo microglitter.  I topped the mani off with Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

Artificial Light
I really like dusty shades like Never Glum Plum.  It's a really unique color.  And the combo with Midnight Seduction was really fun.

What do you guys think of Never Glum Plum?  Do you have any Nina Ultra Pro polishes?

Loreal - Apple of My Eye

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

I have a gorgeous red from Loreal to share with you today called Apple of My Eye.  I picked this one up on sale at Duane Reade a while back and I believe it's one of their older polishes.  Apple of My Eye is a bright red jelly that applies well, but it is sheer.  Here it is with two coats and no top coat.

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
You guys know I never wear a jelly without trying a jelly sandwich.  So I sandwiched Victoria's Secret Supercharged between coats of Apple of My Eye then topped it off with Underground Nails Quickie Dry Top Coat.

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
I wish you guys could have seen this mani in person.  It was so pretty!!!  These two make the perfect combo!

Since this week's Twinsie Tuesday theme is a matte and gloss combo mani, I used Pure Nail Lacquer's Simplify It to matte this manicure.

Artificial Light
I then freehanded a coat of Underground Quickie Dry Top Coat diagonally.

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
It was difficult to capture this look, but I think you guys get the idea.  I haven't tried anything like this before, but I would like to experiment with matte and gloss in the future.

Have you ever tried doing a matte and gloss combo manicure?
