Twinsie Tuesday - Two Year Anniversary

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

I know what you're thinking, "It's not Tuesday!"  And you would be right!  But today is the two year anniversary of Twinsie Tuesday, so we have an additional post to share this week.  We were all given another Twinsie and had to do a mani inspired by their first Twinsie Tuesday post.  My manicure is inspired by Anne's first post, which you can find here here.

Anne's first post was of an international polish, so I chose Kiko 402.  It's an international brand and it's pink.  I wanted to use a polish that was at least in the family since I didn't have a similar shade and finish.

This polish is really pretty, but I wanted to love it more.  I actually got quite a few compliments when I was wearing it, but I just didn't feel it looked as good on me as I expected.  Has that ever happened to you?

What do you guys think of 402?  Do you own any international polishes?

Rimmel Cocktail Colour - Hawaiian Punch

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

I have a Rimmel polish that I got from Saira to share with you today!  I've never seen this line of polish from them, Cocktail Colour, but I think the bottles are so cute.  Hawaiian Punch is a gorgeous red shimmer with a great formula.  It gives great coverage in two coats, but there is a slight bit of VNL.  Here I used no base or top coat.

I love this beautiful red!  The shimmer in it is super pretty!

What do you guys think of Hawaiian Punch?  Have you tried any polishes from this Rimmel line?

Honey Bunny Lacquer - Anti-Valentine's Day Collection

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

Today, I have some polishes to share with you from Honey Bunny Lacquer.  Deb has three polishes in her Anti-Valentine's Day Collection.

Love Hurts

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
Love Hurts is an off-white matte with gold shimmer.  It's opaque in three coats and the formula is really easy to apply.   Above I used no top coat and below I topped it off with Nubar Diamont.

Artificial Light
This is a really nice polish.  It actually reminds me of Orly Au Champagne, but not as thick.

Falling In & Out of Love

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
Falling In & Out of Love is a matte pink with blue shimmer.  This polish also had a good formula and was opaque in three coats.  Above, I used no top coat and below I added Nubar Diamont.

Artificial Light

Love Hate Love
A glitter topper that has matte white & black and red holo microglitter; white dots, matte white and red holo hexes; red micro slices; and red and black matte and red holo hearts.

Love Hate Love layered over Love Hurts

This is such a fun glitter.  I love that the hearts aren't too large.  I think all of these polishes are really pretty. Especially Love Hurts and Falling In & Out of Love with top coat ;0).   Though it's an Anti-Valentine's Day collection, it does make me think of Valentine's Day without being too sweet.

What do you guys think of this collection?  Are you anti-Valentine's Day?

Busy Girl Nails Winter Nail Art Challenge - Glitter

Hi everyone!!

Ready for week three of the Busy Girl Nails Winter Nail Art Challenge?

If you haven't guessed, this week's theme is GLITTER!!  For my base, I used China Glaze Glistening Snow.  What a gorgeous holographic glitter it is, sigh!  I then layered two coats of Nostalgic Nail Lacquer Punky Power for a fun glittery combo.

Artificial Light

Sunlight
I thought this was a really fun and sparkly look.  Now, to be honest, I would have to be feeling really adventurous to wear an entire mani like this.  Usually, I'd do something like this as an accent nail only.

What do you guys think of this glitter combo?  Would you wear this look on all of your nails?

You can still join us in this challenge! Just tag your photo #busygirlnails on instagram and tag the hosts so we know you've posted your nails: @beautybyarielle, @drinkcitra, @fiercemakeupandnails, @mirandasmakeup and @marijonails.

Twinsie Tuesday - Nail Care Routine

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

For this week's Twinsie Tuesday post, we are to share our nail care routine.  So I'll be sharing my go to products today.

Cuticle Care
I don't use cuticle remover very often, but when I do, I use Sally Hansen's Gel Cuticle Remover.  It does a really good job.  The gel needs to be applied to the cuticle and then a cuticle pusher can be used to remove and push the cuticles back.

I use a metal Revlon cuticle pusher which I got at Target.  It works really well.  It's important that you remove the gel within 8-10 minutes because your cuticles become very sensitive if it's left on too long (trust me, I know).  You should also wash your hands with warm water and soap.

Whenever I use the cuticle remover, I use cuticle oil right away to moisturize them.  I use Sally Hansen cuticle oil with Vitamin E.

Filing
For filing, I use a regular nail file.  The one I have right now is by Soft Touch.  I'm not sure where I got it (maybe Sally's), but it works really well.  I sometimes clip my nails if I feel they are too long, but I haven't done that much lately because sometimes I end up going too short.  I also keep the nail clip around for hang nails, but not for my cuticles.

Moisturizing
I ALWAYS have cuticle balm on hand in my purse.  Right now, I'm using Burt's Bees.  Massaging and moisturizing the cuticles is especially important for me in the winter, as they tend to become really dry.  I use cuticle balm every day.

I also use lotion and hand cream often to keep my hands moisturized.

Base Coat
My go to base coat is Rejuvacote.  It prevents staining and keeps my nails really strong.

Top Coat
My favorite top coat is Seche Vite.  Yes, it drives me crazy sometimes because it shrinks my polish, but it dries so quickly and to a gorgeous shine.  I just love it.

Vitamins
In addition to my daily multi-vitamins, I also take Biotin as a supplement.  Since taking it regularly, I noticed that my nails grow a lot faster and are very healthy.

So there you have it, my go to products for nail care.  What are some of the things you do for nail care?  Let me know in the comments.

Revlon Street Wear - Splash

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

For Monday Blues, I have a Revlon Street Wear polish that I got from Claudia last year.  Splash is a blue metallic polish with a good formula, but it's a bit brush strokey.  I absolutely love the shimmer in it though, so I don't even care.

Splash is a really pretty color, you just have to be careful with application.  I'm looking forward to using this one again.

What do you guys think of Splash?  Do you like this shade of blue?

Indie Sunday - Pretty Serious Cosmetics

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

This week, meet Karen of Pretty Serious Cosmetics.

When did your love for polish begin?
I've always loved painting my nails. I remember painting my nails with this fabulous blue glitter on my lunch breaks at school. My school friends that keep in touch with me now are not surprised at all with my choice of work! As for collecting? I started to get serious (no pun intended!) about nails in about 2008. My first big haul was the China Glaze OMG collection when it was brand new from Head2Toe Beauty!

What made you decide to start your own polish line?
I guess I just wanted to do something that I loved. I was tired of working in an office and it was time to move on to something more suited to me. The opportunity and start up capital presented itself and myself and my husband thought, "why not?". The rest is history.

What's the inspiration behind the colors you create?
Definitely vintage polish. I have a huge love of vintage and you'll find that a lot of my shades are simple, yet unique. I love old Hard Candy, Streetwear and Urban Decay. Awesome innovators who just tried something different that worked. They took the nail industry beyond the reds and pinks. There's a lot of 90's polish inspiration in Pretty Serious!

How many polishes do you have in your stash?
LOL! The million dollar question. I would estimate around 4000 but the thought of sorting and counting them kind of makes my head spin!

What is your favorite polish brand? (Besides your own, of course)
Apart from the usual vintage suspects that I collect, I really love Nails Inc. Gorgeous quality, interesting colours and those Crystal Caps! To die for. I've fallen behind on polish collecting as of late so I am a bit behind on what is out right now.

How can customers follow you on social media?
We have a bunch of ways you can follow us!

I loved learning more about Karen and her inspiration.  And 4,000 polishes?!!!  I don't feel so bad about my collection after learning that heehee ;0).

Pretty Serious just released a textured collection called They Came From Beyond Space Part II.  You can see the press release here.

And here's a pic of the Killer Fangirls Collection.

Here are some of my personal favorites (so far).

Pretty Serious - The Pink One
Pretty Serious - Daphne's Birthday Party
Pretty Serious - CGA
I love how unique Pretty Serious Cosmetics polishes are.  The packaging is also really cute!

Show Some Love Saturday

Hi everyone!!  Happy Saturday!

Today I have a mani that I've been meaning to try since I saw this post on Nails and Noms.  I've had it in my "to try" folder for over a year.

For my version, I used China Glaze Electric Beat (blue), Nails Inc. Pembroke Close (purple), Milani black nail art brush and Essie Pure Pearlfection.  My top coat was Nubar Diamont.

Not only is this a fun and unique design, but the addition of the shimmer is JUST AWESOME!!  I really love this look.

What do you guys think?  Have you tried anything like it before?

Rainbow Honey - Swatches & Review

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!!

I hope it's much warmer where you are.  NYC has been in the single digits since Tuesday and with the wind chill it feels like it's in the negatives.  I'm so over this weather!! I need summer ASAP!  Okay, enough whining.  Let's see some Rainbow Honey beauties!

The Sweet Talk collection will be back later this month!!  It was first released last year in January and had polishes that were perfect for Valentine's Day.    Here are two polishes from the collection.

Be Mine

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light (Light Box)
Be Mine is a pink creme with gold flakies.  It's so pretty!!!  The formula is pretty good too.  It's slightly streaky, but it levels out nicely after a couple of coats.  Here I used three coats with no base or top coat.  I just love the flakies in this polish!

XOXO

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light (Light Box)
XOXO has a clear base with red hex glitter and gold and holo microglitter.  I decided to layer it over Be Mine and they make a really pretty combo.  I only used one coat in these swatches, and as you can see, there was great coverage.

You can see some other layering combos of XOXO and another polish from the collection in this post.   Rumor has it, there will be three new polishes as a part of the collection.

I also have two of Rainbow Honey's top glitters from 2013!

Summer Blossom

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
Summer Blossom was a Limited Edition polish for the month of July, but it's still available.  It contains orange, white and yellow blossom shaped glitters with iridescent and holographic microglitters in a clear base.  I decided to layer it over Essie Meet Me At Sunset.  It's such a fun summery look.

The Kraken

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
The Kraken is from the Summer of 199X collection.  It's a marine jelly packed with glitter and shimmer.  It has a really good formula and is opaque in two coats.  I used no base or top coat in these swatches.

Finally, I have polish will be released in mid-March as a part of Rainbow Honey's upcoming Midnight Garden Spring Collection.

Papillon

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
Papillon contains butterfly shaped rose pink glitters and purple and holographic small glitters in a clear base.  It's really cute and spring like.  It applies really well and I had no trouble getting the larger glitters out.  Here, I layered one coat over Be Mine.

I always love Rainbow Honey's fun glitters and these don't disappoint.  XOXO has been a favorite of mine since I tried it last year.  I also really love Be Mine and The Kraken.  I'm looking forward to seeing the entire Spring collection.  By the looks of Papillon, it's going to be a good one.

What do you guys think of these polishes?  Any favorites?  Do you have any in your stash?
