Girly Bits Twitterpated

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

I don't have a typical blue to share with you today, but it's still a beauty that will help you forget your Monday Blues.  I ordered Twitterpated, a recent release from Girly Bits, from Harlow & Co. a little while ago.  It's a blurple holo with a really great formula, but it's a bit sheer.  So for this manicure I used three coats with Rejuvacote as a base and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

Twitterpated is such a pretty polish.  You guys know I'm a holo lover and this is a really lovely shade.

What do you guys think of Twitterpated?  Have you gotten any of the new Girly Bits polishes?

Indie Sunday - Paint Job Nail Lacquer

Hi everyone!!

Meet Melinda of Paint Job Nail Lacquer!

When did your love for polish begin?
My love for polishes began as a little girl. I remember that my mom had the most beautiful long nails. She had a rack of about 10-15 polishes, which at the time, I thought was a jackpot! I remember climbing to reach them and polishing my nails on weekends.  I went to private school my whole life and I wasn't allowed to wear nail polish on weekdays to school. Terrible childhood! Lol. When I got to high school, like most girly girls I started the acrylic nails. Oh boy! I would get bright polish and crazy designs. I did that for about 15 years. When I hit my thirties, yes thirties,  :-( I decided that I was spending too much on my nails and I needed a change. I removed them and started to "Lub my nubs". I convinced myself that short nails were in and I started to buy nail polish, then more nail polish and then began to make nail polish! That rack that my mom had was nothing compared to the collection I have now.

What made you decide to start your own polish line?
I started my line in May of 2013. At that point I was completely obsessed with nail polish. My husband and I started a home based business called Car Couture, LLC. My husband is equally obsessed with cars and customizing cars. The plan was to start with vinyl stickers and move onto customizing. Well I liked the idea but I really needed something for me. So one day while I was doing paperwork for my day job as a Mental Health Therapist, I started to research some indie polish lines, blogs and suppliers. I called my husband and he thought it was a great idea. Honestly, I thought he would completely shut me down on it, but he was so supportive and was impressed with the research I had already done. So we created the line with the ladies of "car guys" in mind. I thought of all the car shows I had been to and although I love all the pretty cars, I would have loved to stop and take a peek at some awesome polishes. So now it's available! Yay. :-)

What's the inspiration behind the colors you create?
All of the colors have car themed names. I try to name them so they make sense with the color. I also keep myself abreast of  fashion trends and put my own twist on what is seen on the runways.  Purple is my favorite color so I have a few purple polishes. I literally have to talk myself out of making a new purple every time I mix.

How many polishes do you have in your stash?
Wow! This was difficult,  I attempted to count and I got to about 175. I'm a polish hoarder! I'm sure there are ladies out there with a lot more but my mouth dropped when I realized how many I REALLY had..... I'm so ashamed! Hehe, not really.

Other than your own, what's your favorite polish brand?
Out of commercial brands, I love China Glaze. Out of my fellow indie mixologists, I love Pure Nail Polish. Danielle is so sweet and the customer service is impeccable. I was her first Florida customer! Yay me.

How can customers follow you on social media?
We are currently on Instagram as @paintjobnails and on Facebook as Paint Job Nail Lacquer by Car Couture

Wasn't it great getting to know Melinda a bit more?  Here's a fun fact: Melinda and I went to elementary and junior high school together and we reconnected over nail polish ;0).  I'm so excited for her and her nail polish line!

Show Some Love Saturday

Hi everyone!!

This week I wanted to show some love to my Lex Cosmetics Nectar.  I decided to do a mani similar to one Sabine did a while ago.

After applying Nectar as my base, I added dots of Sinful Colors Snow Me White using my dotting tool.  I then added slightly smaller dots of Nectar on top of the white dots.  I finished it off with top coat.

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
I think this is a really fun look.  I need to practice it some more though, so it doesn't look so bumpy.

What do you guys think of this mani?  Have you done anything like this before?

Check out Sabine's blog, My Polish Stash, here to see her beautiful nails.  She always has great swatches.

Colores de Carol - Swatches & Review

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!!

I have lots of Colores de Carol beauties to share with you!

This is Hallloween!

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

This is Halloween has a really good formula and provides good glitter coverage with each coat.  It requires three thin coats for full opacity though because it's slightly sheer.  I used Rejuvacote as a base, three coats of This is Halloween! and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

Atomic Tangerine

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
Atomic Tangerine is a really unique combo. I love this shade of orange. The formula is slightly thick, but manageable. I wore Rejuvacote as a base, three coats of Atomic Tangerine and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

Shark Attack

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
Shark Attack is a blue jelly base with red and blue glitter.  It has a really good formula and dries quickly.  Here I used Rejuvacote as a base, three coats of Shark Attack and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.  I think this one is super pretty!!

Fancy Cauldron

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Natural Light
Fancy Cauldron is described as a shimmery gold base with black, white and orange glitter in various shapes and sizes.  It applies really well and is opaque in three coats.  I used no base or top coat in these photos.  This is a really unique and fun polish for fall.

Scary Layers

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Natural Light
Scary Layers is a clear base with a mixture of orange, silver, green, black and red glitters and large black dots.  I decided to layer two coats over Sinful Colors Courtney Orange and I loved this combo!  I used no base or top coat for these pictures.

Kites in the Sky

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
Kites in the Sky is an off white jelly base with neon blue, pink and green glitters and yellow microglitter.  It's sheer so it required four coats on its own for full opacity and it's also slightly thick.  Here I used Rejuvacote, four coats of Kites in the Sky, and Seche Vite.  It's really pretty.  I think I'll layer it in the future.

Sexy Bones

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
Sexy Bones is described as a white crelly base with micro gold flakes, black bar glitter, silver bronze and copper glitter.  It requires three coats for full opacity and applies well.  The only thing that was a pain for me were the bar glitters.  Sometimes, they would hang over the edge of the nail and then I had to adjust them.  Otherwise, I really like this fun and funky polish.  It reminds me of spiders for some reason.  Idk.  I used Rejuvacote as a base and Seche Vite.

Well, there you have it folks, some really fun polishes!  My personal favorites: This is Halloween, Shark Attack and Kites in the Sky.  Which ones are you loving?

Colores de Carol polishes may be purchased online here.  Full size bottles are $9.  Every now and then she has sales, so definitely check out the site!

Me.Lissa Lacquer Swatches & Review

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

I have a review of polishes from a new to me brand, Me.Lissa Lacquer, to share with you today.

All of the polishes I'm sharing today are glitters and all swatches are one coat over the base coat with no top coat (except On The Carousel, where I used Seche Vite).

On The Carousel

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Artificial Light
On the Carousel is layered over Orly Au Champagne.  I love how all the colors really pop with this combo!  I was in love with this mani and got complimented on it as well ;0).

Viral Video

Artificial Light

Sunlight
Viral Video is layered over I'm A Belieber.  Something about the black glitter in this polish makes me love it.

Seaside Aquarium

Artificial Light

Sunlight

I layered Seaside Aquarium over Revlon Gray Suede.  I've been loving the combo of neon glitters over nude lately, so I really liked this.

Top of the Ferris Wheel

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Sunlight
I decided to layer Top of the Ferris Wheel over Barry M Turquoise because I knew it would make a fun and bright combo.  I was so right.  This makes me think of a festive event.  Love it!

Bike Rental

Artificial Light

Natural Light

Bike Rental is layered over Revlon Plum Seduction.  I'm loving the circle glitter in this one.

Epic Fail

Artificial Light

Artificial Light

Epic Fail is layered over China Glaze Recycle and it is in no way a fail.  I'm not sure what the reason is behind the name of this one, but I think it's pretty awesome!  I especially love the blue glitters.  It looks really great over Recycle.

These are really great combos of glitters.  I love that you get great coverage with just one coat.  The base is slightly thick, but manageable.  I had no issues applying these polishes.  If you are a glitter lover, these polishes would definitely make you happy.

What do you think of these glitters?  Any favorites?

Me.Lissa Lacquer may be purchased on etsy here.  Full size bottles are $8.50 and minis are $4.50.  Go check out her page for even more fun polishes!
