Show Some Love Saturday

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

This week, I decided to show some love to China Glaze RecycleNails Inc. Power Pink and Orly Au Champagne to replicate a mani I saw in this post.

I used Recycle as a base, then used my dotting tool to add large dots of Power Pink down the middle of the nail.  I then added smaller dots along the sides of Au Champagne.  I finished it off with Bettina top coat.

This is a really simple, but cute look.  Pink and gray has always been one of my favorite color combos.  I love how this turned out.

You can check out Rin's blog here where she does lots of really cute manis.

What do you guys think of this mani?

Color Club and Ruby Wing - Swatches & Review

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

I have a few polishes from Color Club and Ruby Wing to share with you today from their fall collections!

Ruby Wing polishes are color-changing and change when they are exposed to sunlight.

Rose

Indoors (Artificial Lighting)
Indoors, Rose is a sheer base with lots of holographic microglitter.  It has a rose scent.  Here I used two coats with no top coat.

Rose (Sunlight)

Rose (Sunlight)
In sunlight, Rose changes to a rose base and you're still able to see the beautiful sparkle of the holographic glitter.

Cinnamon Bun

Indoors
Indoors, Cinnamon Bun is a metallic caramel/cinnamon shade with gold microshimmer.  It has a cinnamon scent.  This also applied really well.  It was fully opaque in two coats.  I used no top coat for these swatches.

Sunlight

Sunlight
In sunlight, Cinnamon Bun becomes more of a copper and the gold shimmer gives it a warm glow.  It's such a stunning color.

Color Club Pearl District

Artificial Light
Pearl District is from Color Club's Fall 2013 Girly About Town collection.  It's a metallic gold with a hint of green.  It applies really well and is fully opaque in two coats.  You can see a few brush strokes on the nail, but it's not too bad.  Here I used two coats with no top coat.

Artificial Light

Sunlight
Wicker Park

Wicker Park is also from the Girl About Town collection and it's a gorgeous bright lilac creme with a great formula.  The first coat was slightly streaky, but with the second coat, it was fully opaque and so creamy and pretty.  I used no top coat for these pictures.

Sunlight
I'm so in love with Wicker Park.  It's my type of color!  This one more reminds me of spring, but I'll definitely be wearing it this fall.

These are some really great colors.  What do you guys think?  Any favorites?

For Pink Wednesday, I have a fuchsia shimmer to share with you that I received from Saira.  Maybelline Speeding Light has a good formula.  It applied well, but is slightly sheer.  I used two coats and there was a bit of VNL.  On my ring finger, I added two coats of Girly Bits Razzle Dazzle for an accent.

Étude House - Mint Choco Chip

Hi everyone!!

This week's Twinsie Tuesday theme is ice cream.  I decided to use the second Étude House polish from the Sweet Recipe collection that I got from Susan.  Mint Choco Chip is a mint green creme with a mix of copper and some pink and green glitter.  The formula was streaky, but it leveled out with three coats.  I used Rejuvacote as a base, three coats of Mint Choco Chip, and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat for this mani.

The cute cone bottle.

Another shot of the cute bottle.
Isn't this the cutest polish?  I love a good mint green and the mixture of glitter is perfect!  It looks just like mint chocolate chip ice cream.  I've actually never tasted mint chocolate chip ice cream, I'm more of a caramel kind of girl.  Give me some Dulce de Leche or Pralines and Cream and I'm in heaven!  Maybe one day I'll give it a try.

What do you guys think of Mint Choco Chip?  Have you ever had mint chocolate chip ice cream?  What's your favorite flavor?

Don't forget to check out all the other twinsies to see what ice cream manis they came up with this week!

Milani - Cyberspace

Hi everyone!!

Today, I have a holo beauty from Milani's 3D line to share with you for Monday Blues.  I actually used Cyberspace for my holo patchwork mani here, but I wanted to showcase it on its own.  Cyberspace is a light blue scattered holo.  It has a great formula and is fully opaque in two coats.

On my ring finger, I decided to start with a base of China Glaze Electric Beat.  I then free handed Cyberspace diagonally a third of the way from the bottom of the nail.  I then free handed OPI Swimsuit... Nailed It! diagonally in the other direction a third of the way from the tip of the nail.  I used Rejuvacote as a base and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat for this manicure.

Cyberspace is so gorgeous!!! I didn't even need sunlight to show you the holo beauty.  I love it!!

Indie Sunday - Hit Polish

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

For this week's installment of Indie Sunday, we have Rachel of Hit Polish!

Isn't she cute?!! I love that beautiful pink hair!!  Let's learn more about her ;0).

When did your love for polish begin?
I have always loved the idea and look of painted nails but I was a nail -biter up until 2 years ago so polish never looked right on my nails. I am so thankful I finally got sick of having stubs for nails lol

What made you decide to start your own polish line?
I have been selling on Etsy since 2008 through various shops, so handmade/indie items are not a new concept to me. Back in 2011 I decided to take the plunge and browse for nail polish, but unfortunately my first polish purchase ended up being very disappointing. :( The polishes were made with bleeding and curling glitter and had to be thrown away within a few weeks time. I was extremely put off at the time but decided to turn my disappointment  into a learning experience. I made it my mission to research and figure out how to make quality polish. It took a lot of trial and error, testing, testing and more testing to get everything right.

Finally back in July of 2012, after 9 months of testing, I started selling polishes in my Bath&Body shop.  This past year has been amazing for Hit Polish, to date I have sold over 11k bottles of polish! and I know its been a bit of a challenge for my fans because I have had a couple of name changes throughout this time but I finally have everything solidified yay! Now I have 2 shops; 1 shop I just opened up on June 2nd of this year on Etsy dedicated to my nail polishes: www.etsy.com/shop/hitpolishnaillacquer and I also have my own website in which I opened July 15th www.hitpolish.com this shop is also where I welcome international customers :).

What's the inspiration behind the colors you create?
Oh my goodness I just have to look around to be inspired; from the animals and flowers we are surrounded by to my children's clothing and tv shows. I carry a notebook with me EVERYWHERE to write ideas down in. Its all inspiration of you simply look around and view it :).

How many polishes do you have in your stash?
I actually try and not count lol but I do like to keep 1 mini of every polish I've ever created so that's at least 300. Then I LOVE to support my fellow indie artist's and I'm grateful to say I haven't had a bad one since the first so yay! that adds another 75 or so polishes. Then I have all the store bought polishes I use for undies so my guess would be around 450 total beauties :) My oldest daughter "suggests" no-buys for me frequently but I just look at her like shes bumped her head LOL.

How can customers follow you on social media?
I am very active on my fb page https://www.facebook.com/HitPolishNailLacquer
but have neglected as of late my pinterest and instagram both of which I'm HitPolish

Anything else?
I just want your readers to know just how much I appreciate them. I am just one small fish in the indie nail polish ocean but I thank them immensely for taking the time to read this and learn a little bit more about me and my company :).  I strive to continually add new and unique polishes to my lineup on a monthly if not weekly basics because I still have the same drive, determination and passion I had when I first started. I CANNOT WAIT to see what the future holds for Hit Polish.

As a courtesy to Marisa for offering me this awesome opportunity and all her readers /waves HI! I would like to offer at 15% discount code >>>>THANKSMARISA<<<< valid for 1 week in both of my shops:  www.hitpolish.com and www.etsy.com/shop/hitpolishnaillacquer

I don't know about you guys, but it was really fun getting to know more about Rachel and her inspiration.  I don't count my polishes either Rachel (I'd rather not know, lol).  Two of my favorite polishes from Hit Polish are Turq-ish Delight and Tea-Stained Linen (see below).

Rachel really does have some awesome polish combos, so I hope you guys check out her store and take advantage of the discount that she was wonderful enough to give.

Thanks for reading!!

Show Some Love Saturday

Hi everyone!!

For this week's post I decided to show some love to two of Barry M polishes.  To be honest, I don't typically neglect these two polishes, but I was looking to do a mani with pink and blue and I automatically thought of Turquoise and Fuchsia.

I used Barry M Turquoise as my base and added dots with Fuchsia and Sinful Colors Snow Me White. On my ring finger, Fuchsia was the base and Turquoise and Snow Me White were used for the polka dots.  I topped the mani off with Seche Vite.

Artificial Light

Natural Light
I think this mani was super cute.  I actually decided to do it because my BFF who's expecting, decided to do a reveal of the baby's sex.  So I wanted to do something that could go either way.  I really loved the combo of colors.

What do you guys think of this mani?

Busy Girls Summer Nail Art Challenge - Watercolor

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

Today completes the Busy Girls Summer Nail Art Challenge for me.  The theme is watercolor.

I started off with a base of Sinful Colors Snow Me White.  I then used a small paint brush to add Sinful Colors Flutter, Sinful Colors Morning Star and Revlon Garden.  For each color, I put a drop of the polish on a plate, dipped the brush in acetone, then mixed the brush in with the polish to dilute the polish a bit.  I then painted the polish on the nail in random spots.  I finished it off with top coat.

I was really happy with how this mani turned out.  It reminds me of a water color painting of flowers.  Is it just me?  I have to try this technique again.

What do you guys think of this week's mani?  Have you ever tried watercolor nail art?
