One Year Twinsie Anniversary

Hi everyone!!  Happy Thursday!

Many of you know that each week, I join several bloggers on Tuesdays for Twinsie Tuesday posts where we have a nail challenge. Well today is one year since we started doing those posts and our challenge is to recreate our first ever Twinsie Tuesday post.

I started with these wonderful ladies from the very beginning and our first challenge was to share an International polish. I shared Model's Own Aqua Violet, a beautiful blue/purple duochrome from their Beetlejuice collection.

Boy, what a difference from my pictures now!!

So for my anniversary post, I decided to still wear Aqua Violet, but added accent nails using Whimsical Ideas by Pam's Magical Mystery Tour.  I wear accent nails at least once a week now, which I didn't do a year ago.

I chose Magical Mystery Tour because it has a purple base and blue glitter, which goes perfectly with the duochrome in Aqua Violet.  Magical Mystery Tour applied really well.  It's slightly sheer, so I had to use three coats.  I also used three coats for Aqua Violet.

My base coat was Orly Nail Defense and I used Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

Now for more pics ;0).

I loved wearing this mani so much because these two were a beautiful combo!! Can you believe this was the first time I wore Aqua Violet since posting it a year ago?  I should really show it some more love!!

I can't wait to see my Twinsies' posts today!  It'll be fun to see the differences from their first posts!  Go check them out!

Ulta - Sweetheart Pink

Hi everyone!! Happy Pink Wednesday!

Today, I have a polish that I picked up from Ulta when I was in Vegas last summer. Sweetheart Pink is a bubblegum pink crelly. It is a bit on the thick side, but applies well. It was opaque in two coats and dried fairly quickly. I used Orly Nail Defense as a base, two coats of Sweetheart Pink and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

This is such a lovely, girly color. Though, it's not very unique, it's my kind of color.

What do you guys think of Sweetheart Pink?

Twinsie Tuesday - Vintage

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

The Twinsie challenge this week is to do a vintage manicure, we were to copy something from an old beauty photo.  I have to admit I was stumped for this one!  While I can appreciate vintage items, I'm not really into it, so I had no idea where to start.  Therefore, I went straight to google, lol!  I found a pic of this dress:

I thought this was a cute little dress and that I could come up with some sort of nail art with this design. Here's what I came up with:

Artificial Light
I started off with Orly Au Champagne.  I then added stripes using my Milani Nail Art pen in black.  I then used Sinful Colors Fire Red (for the belt) on a few nails.  For the dots, I used Beauty UK Aztec with my dotting tool.

I didn't want to use red on every nail, so I just added dots between the lines for the ones that didn't have red to mix it up a bit.

I was kind of on the fence with this one.  I think it's a funky, artsy look, but it's not really me.  It also doesn't look very vintage, lol!  Oh well, it was worth a try.

I can't wait to see if my twinsies were more successful with their vintage manicures.  Go check them out!

Born Pretty Store - Golden Foil Metal Nail Art Tips Sticker Decal Slice

Hi everyone!!

I have a review of some golden nail art decals from Born Pretty Store to share with you.  They are metallic hearts than can be used for nail art.  Since I was wearing Butter London's Two Fingered Salute, I decided to try the hearts because Two Fingered Salute has lots of golden shimmer in it.

According to Born Pretty's site, it can be used on both artificial and natural nails.  I used a coat of Beauty Secrets Top Coat, then placed the heart on the nail and added another coat of top coat to hold the heart in place.

As you can see, the heart was slightly raised on part of the nail.  The reason for this is that the heart is a very hard metal and isn't bendable to take the shape of the nail.

I think these hearts are really pretty, I just wish they would lay flat on the nail.  Maybe those more experienced with these types of nail art materials would be able to work with these more easily.

Here are some pics of Two Fingered Salute on its own.

Daring Digits - Snowed In

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

For Monday Blues, I have a beautiful polish from Daring Digits. Snowed In is a white base with medium blue and white hex glitter and small navy and light blue glitter. It has a really good formula. The first coat was slightly streaky as most white polishes are, but it evened out nicely. I used Orly Nail Defense as a base, three coats of Snowed In and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

Colores de Carol - Swatches & Review

Hi everyone!!

I'm so excited to share about these polishes I'm sharing.  Carolina, the writer of the blog Colores de Carol, has started her own polish line!  I'm  so excited for her and they're really pretty.

First up is Wet Paint.

Artificial Light
Wet Paint is a clear base with white, blue, and pink medium square glitter, small black glitter, and pink and blue microglitter. The base is a bit thick, but it is manageable. I did have to fish for the larger pieces of glitter at times.  Here I layered one coat of Wet Paint over Essence Break Through with no base or top coat.

Artificial Light
I decided to add another coat of Wet Paint to see what it would look like.

Artificial Light

I think this is such a fun glitter.  It really does look like splashes of color on the nails.  I'm loving the label also, it's really fun!

Next is It's Raining Hearts.

Artificial Light
It's Raining Hearts is a clear base with white, pink and red medium heart glitter, small red hex glitter, and red microglitter. The hearts tend to settle so I had to shake the bottle really well. There is good coverage with one coat, but I used two. The base was also a bit thick with this one, but manageable.  Here I layered it over Sally Hansen Fuschia Power with no top coat.

Artificial Light

This glitter is so pretty!!  I love the mixture of the large hearts and the microglitter.  It's perfect for Valentine's day!

Finally, I Smell Spring.

Artificial Light
I Smell Spring is a yellowish nude jelly base with fuschia, orange, green, blue, red, and yellow small hexagon glitter.  It reminds me of all the beautiful flowers you see in spring.  The formula was a bit thick, so thin coats are needed when applying.  There is definitely great glitter coverage with each coat.  Here I used Orly Nail Defense as a base, two coats  of I Smell Spring, and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

Sunlight

Sunlight
When Carolina first shared a swatch of this polish, I was nervous about how it would look with my skin tone, but I was pleasantly surprised.  This is super pretty and it makes me long for the days of spring.  Anyone else over this winter weather?

I'm in love with Carolina's polishes so far and I'm looking forward to what else she has in store for us.  She's already working on her second collection ;0).

There are a few more polishes in Carolina's first collection and the can all be found here.  Full size bottles are $9.  She also has a sale going on this weekend that ends tonight.  There is free shipping when you order two or more polishes from her first collection.  Just use the code WEEKEND.  Grab them now while you can!
