July Favorites

Hi everyone!!  Here are my July favorites:

Clockwise from the top left: Red Stripes, Green Gradient, Lightning Bolt*, Saran Wrap Manicure, Water Marble
*Technically, the lightning bolt was from June.  But it was toward the end of the month and since it didn't make the cut last month, I wanted to include it.*

Nicka K - Twinkle Star

Hi everyone!!

This Twinsie Tuesday, we are supposed to share a polish that is only sold in our region.  It was difficult for me to find a polish that was only sold in New York, so I decided to choose one that's made here, Nicka K.  I don't see this brand on blogs very often, so I figured it's not readily available to many.

Twinkle Star is a gorgeous sheer purple shimmer that applies very easily.  It's very sheer though, so even after two coats, there was a lot of VNL.  I think I would have to layer it over a similar color to avoid that problem.  I used Growth Spurt base coat and no top coat in these pictures.

I think this is a really pretty polish on its own, I just wish it was more opaque.

Do you have any Nicka K polishes?

I'm looking forward to seeing what polishes my Twinsies choose this week.  I love learning about new brands.  Go check them out!

Cult Nails - Princess

Hi everyone!!

I have another Cult Nails beauty to share with you today! This should definitely take your Monday blues away ;0).

Princess is a light dusty blue with gorgeous pink shimmer from the Fairytale Collection.  It is sooooo pretty!!  The formula is awesome!  It's fully opaque in two coats and applies evenly.  I used Growth Spurt base coat, two coats of Princess, and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

Princess is beautiful all on its own, but I decided to add a bit more sparkle on my middle and ring fingers (look at me doing more than a ring finger accent nail, lol).  I added OPI Pirouette My Whistle.

Artificial Light

Isn't that a beautiful combo?  I can't tell you how many compliments I got on this mani!

What do you guys think of Princess?  Did you get one for yourself?

Princess is still available for $10 on the Cult Nails website (www.cultnails.com).

Cult Nails - Feelin' Froggy

Hi everyone!! Hubby and I are headed to Turks & Caicos today.  We had an awesome time in Jamaica and are sad it's over, but we're looking forward to spending time with family on another beautiful island.  I hope you're all having a great weekend.

I have a polish to share with you from Cult Nails' recently released Fairytale collection.  Feelin' Froggy is a gorgeous green shimmer that is fully opaque in two coats.  Maria describes it as a "kelly green" on the blog.  I really love this shade.  I used Growth Spurt as a base and here I have it with two coats and no top coat.

I love, love, love this green!!! And look how shiny it is with no top coat.

What do you guys think of Feelin' Froggy?  Your type of green?

You can purchase Cult Nails polishes here.  Coco's Untamed Collection was also released about two weeks ago and I'm looking forward to trying those polishes as well.  CN is killing my wallet right now, lol.

Fingerprint Nail Art - Fail

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

I just wanted to share with you a mani that I did a few weeks ago.  I was attempting to do a manicure using my fingerprints like the one here.  However, when I did it, I had to much polish on my fingers, so the prints didn't come out.  I still got a really cool abstract effect though.

Artificial Light

The polishes I used were: Orly Au Champagne (base), Revlon Lily, Sally Hansen Jade Jump, and OPI Pink Friday.

What do you guys think of the result?  Have you ever tried using your fingerprints for a mani?

Lush Lacquer - Salt n Peppa

Hi everyone!!

I have a polish for all you glitter lovers out there today.  Salt n Peppa was sent to me by one of the sweetest bloggers I know, Bridget (go check out her blog y'all).  Bridget surprised me with this one.  Honestly, I hadn't even considered getting it.  I just wasn't attracted to the black and white glitter craze.  I'm so happy I have it now!

Salt n Peppa has fine holographic glitter, black and white bar glitter, small black and white hex glitter, and medium sized black and white square glitter.  Sounds like a lot right?  It's actually not.  The glitter isn't too dense, so you get a nice mix of the different glitters without it being overpowering.  Also, I like that the bar glitter is small, so it doesn't look like hair on your nails, lol.

I tried a few layering combos.  This is one coat of Salt n Peppa in each mani.

Over Essie Fear or Desire

Over Deborah Lippmann Let's Hear It For The Boy

I actually did two coats of Salt n Peppa over NK Noir (black) and Orly Au Champagne.  I wasn't patient when waiting between coats, so it pulled Au Champagne a bit.  Still working on that patience, I tell ya!

I really liked all of these combos!!  There are so many awesome possibilities with this glitter!

What do you think of Salt n Peppa?  Are you a black and white glitter fan?

Lush Lacquer polishes can be purchased here.  Full sized bottles are $8.75.

Deborah Lippmann - Dream A Little Dream of Me

Hi everyone!!

Today I have a Deborah Lippmann polish to share with you that I received from the lovely Nory over at Fierce Makeup and Nails.  She said when she saw it she thought of me.  So sweet!! Thanks Nory!!!

Dream A Little Dream of Me is a very sheer pink shimmer polish that is definitely for layering, unless you're the type of person that likes very sheer polishes.  Here it is on its own (2 coats).

Please excuse my stained nails.  It still looks nice though.

Of course I had to try it over a polish, so when I was wearing Essie's Off The Shoulder, which I shared with you yesterday, I decided to add a coat of Dream A Little Dream of Me.  I topped it off with a coat of Seche Vite.

How gorgeous is this combo?  I can't wait to try it over other colors!!

What do you guys think of Dream A Little Dream of Me?  Would you wear it alone?

Essie - Off The Shoulder

Hi everyone!! Happy Pink Wednesday!

Today I have Essie's Off The Shoulder from their summer collection.  I got a mini in a set by winning a giveaway hosted by @aveyou on Instagram. You can see two other polishes in the set, Bikini So Teeny and Fear or Desire, by clicking on the links.

Off The Shoulder is a gorgeous, bright barbie pink creme.  The formula is on the thick side, so you have to be careful with application.  It was fully opaque in two coats and dried to a beautiful shine.  I used Growth Spurt as a base coat, two coats of Off The Shoulder, and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

Deborah Lippmann - Let's Hear It For The Boy

Hi everyone!!

For this Twinsie Tuesday we are supposed to share our "best deal" polish, a polish that we got on clearance or sale.  This wasn't hard for me at all, because I love a good sale.  I actually had quite a few polishes to choose from.  I decided to go with a Deborah Lippmann. Her polishes typically retail for $16 - $18, which is why I never purchased them.  However, HSN recently had a sale to get a set of two polishes (Let's Hear It For The Boy and Dancing In The Sheets) for $9.95.  Yep, you read that right!!  So basically I got them for $4.975 each, haha!

I'll just be sharing Let's Hear It For The Boy today.  It's a beautiful pastel blue creme that applies really well. I expected it to be really streaky like most pastels, however, that only happened if the coat was too thin.  With a medium sized coat, I was able to get full coverage in just one coat.

In these pictures, I used two coats with Growth Spurt base and no top coat.

Isn't it pretty?  It has a bit of a shine on its own too.  I love this blue!

What do you think of Let's Hear It For The Boy?  What's the best deal you ever got on a polish?

I can't wait to see what polishes my Twinsies got as great deals.  Go check them out!

Essence - Blue Addicted

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

To take your blues away this Monday, I have a polish that I was lemming for a LONG time!!  When I first saw it, I had no idea it was a Deborah Lippmann dupe, I just thought it was so gorgeous!!  Blue Addicted has a navy blue jelly base with green and blue medium hex glitter.  It's so sparkly and pretty!!  It applied evenly and was opaque in two coats.  I decided to do three though.  I used Growth Spurt as a base and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

Sunlight

Isn't it a beauty??  It's so sparkly and colorful!  You would think it had a gritty finish, but with just one coat of Seche Vite it was completely smooth.  I love it!!

This polish is really tough to find, even tougher for those like me who don't have easy access to Essence.  I got mine from the lovely Deborah over at Love, Varnish, Chocolate and More...  Thank you so much again Deborah!! You made me really happy ;0).

What do you guys think of Blue Addicted?  Your kind of polish?

Wedding Mani

Hi everyone!!  Happy Sunday!

Today, the hubby and I are flying to Jamaica for vacation.  We'll be there for a week and then we fly over to Turks & Caicos to celebrate with my aunt as she turns 50.  Yep, lots of fun in the sun for the next week and a half.  Though I will have very limited internet access, I will have scheduled posts.  So don't forget to stop by ;0).

Today I'm sharing with you the mani I did for my brother's wedding on Tuesday.  I wanted to do something classic, but with a twist.  One of my twinsies posted a link to an article on facebook with a mani that fit exactly what I was looking to do. I can't remember who it was and where the article was found, but I took a pic on my phone so I could recreate it.

Artificial Light
I used a coat Essie Pure Pearlfection as a base because I wanted a bit of sparkle.  I then used Orly Au Champagne for the tips.  To create the different designs on the nail, I used scotch tape.

I was really happy with the way this manicure turned out.  It still looked classic, but wasn't the same old french manicure.

What do you guys think of this manicure?  Is this something you would wear?

Red and Silver Watermarble

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!! Happy Saturday!  I hope your weekend is off to a great start!

I went to Florida a few weeks ago for a wedding and decided to do a water marble for my manicure.  For some reason, whenever I wear a water marble, my manicure lasts much longer, and since I wouldn't be home, I wanted to make sure I didn't have to worry about chipping.

My dress was a wine/plum color and I had silver accessories, so I decided to go with red and silver on my nails.  The red I chose was Sinful Colors Fire Red and the silver was A-England Excalibur (you can click on the links to see the original posts and more info about these polishes).  I topped everything off with a coat of Seche Vite.

These colors go so well together and I would have never thought of it if weren't for my dress for the wedding.

I really liked how this turned out.  This is the first time I came close to similar designs on each nail.  It wasn't perfect, but I'm getting better at it.  The pinky was definitely my favorite.

What do you guys think of this red and silver combo?
