Essie - Bikini So Teeny

Hi everyone!!  Happy Monday!  I had quite a rough weekend traveling, between cancellations and delays.  Thankfully, the hubby and I were still able to enjoy the beautiful wedding of a friend.  And now, I go right back to work.  I hope I make it, lol.

I recently won four colors (minis) from the Essie Summer collection on Instagram from @aveyou.  One of the colors in the pack was Bikini So Teeny, a beautiful periwinkle blue with shimmer.  Since it's Monday, I decided to share it with you to take your blues away.

The formula for Bikini So Teeny was pretty good.  It was slightly streaky on the first coat, but evened out nicely with the second coat.  My problem with it though, was that the shimmer didn't translate to the nail :(.  I was really looking forward to the nice shimmery blue I saw in the bottle. I hate when that happens.  In these pics, I used Essie All in One Base and two coats of Bikini So Teeny, no top coat.

Because I was craving some shimmer, I decided to add a coat of my go-to shimmer top coat.  You guessed it, Pure Pearlfection.  So here it is with a coat of PP and a coat of Seche Vite.

I like this version so much better.

  6. Great layering! I love BST--have used it three times since I got it and I don't usually do that sort of thing since I always seem to have new things to play with.

  8. This is such a beautiful blue, so it sucks that the shimmer doesn't appear like it does in the bottle. I think the shimmer you added on top is such a pretty effect though!

  11. I love this color, one of my favorites from the collection! What a great idea to put it with Pure Pearlfection! I was also frustrated by the lack of shimmer but thankfully the base color is really lovely. :)

  17. I passed on this one after feeling I had been burned by Essie with this range of shade - too many that I bought were chalky white looking. I keep seeing shots of this and love it, but not ready to take a chance on one more pale lavender. Love it here with Pure Pearlfection. That is my fav 'effect' right now (well most of the time - I have a couple CND effects I dearly love. Maybe I do need this guy since it's between a lavender and a blue but not quite periwinkle either.

  20. Good call with adding a coat of 'Pure Pearlfection', I'll have to try that next time. I was really disappointed with this formula, it seems Essie nails it (ha ha) or fails miserably. I really like the formula of 'Mojito Madness' though, it has a nice creamy formula!
