Tony Moly - Jupiter (GT05)

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!! Whoo, it's finally Saturday!  I should be on my way to Florida as you read this post.  I have a wedding to go to and my stay was going to be a short one, but now it's even shorter because my flight was cancelled last night :(.  My weekend is already exhausting.  I won't really have a chance to respond to comments or read posts, but I promise to catch up when I return.

I have a Tony Moly polish to share with you today that I received from the lovely Susan over at The Subtle Shimmer.  Jupiter has a gorgeous deep purple jelly base and is packed with light purple microglitter, and blue hex glitter.  It can be worn on it's own, but I decided to layer it over Forbidden Lust, which I shared with you yesterday.  This is one coat of Jupiter over two coats of Forbidden Lust with Beauty Secrets top coat.

I absolutely love this polish!!  It's so pretty and sparkly!  It also applied really easily and because the glitter is really dense, it doesn't require many coats for full coverage.  Thanks again for sending it to me Susan!!

What do you think of Jupiter?

Misa - Forbidden Lust

Hi everyone!!  Happy Friday!  I'm excited, not only because it's Friday, but also because this is post number 300!!!  Yayyy!  Thanks to you all who have stuck with me all this time!  Your support keeps me going and I'm honored to know that you take some time out of your day to stop by.  I'm especially grateful to those of you comment, both with lovely comments and constructive criticism.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

So I recently discovered a beauty supply store in my area that sells Misa polishes.  I was so excited when I found this store because I had a few Misa polishes on my wish list.  And even better, they're only $3!

Forbidden Lust was one of the polishes on my list, so I immediately grabbed it.  It is a gorgeous deep purple/plum shimmer that applies like butter.  It's fully opaque in two coats and dries quickly and to a shine.  In the swatches below, I used no base or top coat.

I love colors like these and I'm so happy I found this polish!

What do you guys think of this polish? Do you have any Misa polishes?

Lightning Bolt

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!  Happy Thursday! It's been a busy week for me at work and will continue to be for a while, but I'll try to keep up as much as I can.  I hope you guys aren't as busy as I am.

I have a manicure I tried out for a competition on Instagram to share with you!  I tell you, Instagram has really been encouraging me to try out nail art with these competitions that are being held.  Everytime I try, I think, this is going to be a total failure, and everytime I surprise myself.  Now are they perfect? No.  But they turned out to be pretty good.

Lisa (@lisa_beth) hosted a competition to copy her manicures.  It was hard to come to a decision because she has such awesome nail art and I didn't know what I could possibly replicate.  If you're on Instagram, go follow her and you'll see all of the awesome work she does.  Anyhoo, I finally decided on lightning bolt mani that she did.  Here's her version:

Since I'm not a black polish girl, I decided to go with red.  Red and gold go so well together.

Artificial Light
I painted my ring finger with two coats of Beauty UK Aztec.  Then cut out a piece of tape in the shape of a lightning bolt.  Hubby had to help me with cutting it.  I had such a hard time getting it into the right shape!  I seriously felt like a dud, smh.

After placing the tape on the nail, I added Sinful Colors Fire Red to the nail.  I also painted my other nails with two coats of Fire Red.   I finished it off with a coat of Seche Vite.  Here are a few more pics:

I was really happy with how the mani turned out.  I felt like Wonder Woman, lol!!

What do you guys think of this mani?  Something you would wear?

Oh btw, if you're on Instagram, you can follow me @marijonails.

NYC - Radio City Rose

Hi everyone!!  This Pink Wednesday, I have a simple rose pink to share with you from NYC.  Radio City Rose is from NYC's In A Minute line, so it's a fast dry polish.  It applies very well, but is a bit runny, so there was slight pooling around the cuticles.  If not for some patchiness, it would have been opaque in one coat.  So I did two coats for good measure.

I used Essie All in One Base and two coats of Radio City Rose with no top coat in these pictures.

As I mentioned above, this is a really simple polish.  Nothing unique about it.  I still really like it though.  It's a nice work friendly shade and a good palette cleanser.  And look at that shine without a top coat!

NYC polishes can be found at your local drug store (i.e. Duane Reade, Rite Aid, Walgreens).  The cost is $1.99.  Awesome price right? ;0)

What do you think of Radio City Rose?  Too conservative for your tastes?

Star Lacquer - The Magic's In Me!

Hi everyone!!  For Twinsie Tuesday, we're supposed to share a polish from our favorite brand.  I'm going to cheat today because I don't have a favorite brand.  There are brands that I have lots of polishes from, but I can't say that I can narrow it down to one favorite.

So I decided to share a polish from one of my favorite polish people, Susan.  I shared with you that she recently started selling her own polishes and I wanted to share one from The Secret Garden collection, The Magic's In Me!

The Magic's In Me! is a sheer red-based purple base with small holo glitter, and larger gold and fuchsia glitter.  Application was super easy and it has lots of glitter.  Because the polish is sheer, there is still a bit of VNL after three coats if worn on it's own.  So I tried four different ways of wearing it:

Index Finger - Three Coats
Middle Finger - Two coats over Revlon Plum Seduction
Ring Finger - Two coats over NYC Radio City Rose
Pinky - Two coats over Sally Hansen Fuschia Power

I used no base or top coat on any of the nails.

Here are the pics:

As you can see, it's not so bad on its own, but if you're like me and not a VNL fan, it's best to layer it.  I personally like it most with Sally Hansen Fuschia Power (the pinky) because of the contrast, however, it looks great with the other two polishes also.

I love this polish so much and I'm happy to have it in my stash!

Star Trinkets polishes can be purchased here.

What do you guys think of The Magic's In Me?

Don't forget to check out my twinsies and see what polish they chose from their favorite brand.

Daring Digits - Alpha Quadrant

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!  Monday has come so quickly once again!  I hope you all had a good weekend.

For Monday Blues, I have a Daring Digits polish to share with you today.  Yep, another etsy purchase ;0).  Alpha Quadrant is a wonderful dark blue base packed with VERY VERY fine holographic glitter.  I'm not a Star Trek fan, but based on Ashley's description, the name has something to do with the show.  IDK (shrug).  I just love the polish, so that's good enough for me.  No offense to Ashley or any of you Trekkies ;0).

The first coat of Alpha Quadrant was a bit streaky, but I used a thicker coat with the second one and it was perfectly opaque.  It dries semi matte, which I didn't mind too much.  I used no base or top coat.

I used Beauty Secrets top coat for this one.

A blurry shot to see the holographic glitter.

You can visit Ashley's Etsy shop here to purchase Alpha Quadrant or one of her many other gorgeous polishes.  Full size bottles are sold for $7.50 and minis are $3.50.

What do you think of Alpha Quadrant?  Are you a Trekkie?

Hi everyone!!  Happy Sunday!

I wanted to share with you today a manicure I did for a competition on Instagram.  There are many nail enthusiasts on there and competitions are all the craze now.  Cyberchick (follow her for her cute manis) hosted a flower competition and I decided to give flowers a try.

I was already wearing my Kim-pletely in Love/Space Queen combo and I thought it would be cool to do red and gold.  I used my always reliable bobby pin as my dotting tool.  I started by adding gold dots on the nail (I used Beauty UK Aztec).  For the red, I used Tapping Tips Paint it Red.  I used the bobby pin to place dots around the gold dots, creating the look of a flower.  Here is the result:

I was pleasantly surprised at how this turned out, especially because it was my first time trying it.  And guess what?  I won third place!  Woohoo!!

What do you guys think of this mani?  Have you ever done flower nail art?

Barry M - Red Glitter

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!  I hope your weekend is off to a great start!

Today I have a polish that I received as a gift from the lovely Esther over at Fab Fingertips. I commented on a picture of Barry M Red Glitter on Instagram, saying something like "I need this polish in my life ASAP!"  You polish lovers know that feeling ;0).  It wasn't even Esther's picture, but she noticed my comment and decided to surprise me with it.  Now, you can't tell me this girl is not awesome!!!  Thanks again Esther!

Red Glitter is exactly what it sounds like, red glitter in a clear base.  I had no idea from the pictures I'd seen because the glitter is so dense that you'd have no idea that there was no red polish.  It applies evenly, but required 3 coats for full opacity.  Here, I used Essie All in One Base, three coats of Red Glitter, and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

This polish is so stunning in my opinion!!  This is definitely like nothing else in my stash.  And with all that glitter, you'd think it was gritty, but it wasn't bad at all.  With a coat of Seche Vite it was completely smooth.  Thank you Esther, my love!

What do you think of Red Glitter?  Have you seen anything like this?

Essence - Space Queen

Hi everyone!!  Happy Friday!  I have a very busy weekend ahead.  How about you guys?  Any big plans?

I'd like to share a polish with you that I received from the lovely Ashley over at Art Evolve.  We did a swap a little while ago and I was so happy to find this beautiful glitter in my package.

Space Queen is a gorgeous clear base with lots of iridescent microglitter.  It's so simple and pretty!  I decided to layer one coat over NOPI Kim-pletely in Love because I wanted a nice girly look.

How pretty is this glitter?  I love all of the colors it has, but it's not too in your face.

What do you think of Space Queen?  Do you have this one?

The Hungry Asian - Cookies & Cream

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!

I have a new Hungry Asian polish to share with you.  Kae is such a sweetheart and sent this one to me as a gift.  Honestly, this is not one of her polishes I was planning on getting because I'm always afraid of how white will look on me.  However, I'm so excited to have this baby!

According to Kae's description, Cookies and Cream has fine black glitter in a sheer milky white base.  It reminds me so much of the ice cream, I love it!!  Kae recommended two coats over a white polish, so I decided to layer two coats over Orly Au Champagne.  I used no top coat here.

I love that this polish applied evenly and wasn't streaky.  The black glitter really makes it look special.  I'm so happy to have this in my stash.

You can visit Kae's shop here to see all of her lovely creations!  Cookies & Cream can be purchased for $9.25 (full size).

What do you think of Cookies & Cream?

Pink Wednesday, The Vegas Edition!

Hi everyone!!! This is going to be a long post with lots of pics, but I really wanted to share with you my time in Vegas.

First, for Pink Wednesday, I'd like to share the mani that I wore on my trip.  I decided to try Sally Hansen Salon Effects for the first time because I figured it would be good way to have a cute mani and hopefully, I wouldn't have to worry about chipping.  Salon Effects are supposed to last 9 days.  So, I applied Pink-A-Dot, a white with pink polka dots that I got on clearance from Target for $5 (it usually retails for $9.99).

First day of application

Another shot on the first day
Application of the Salon Effects, was a bit tedious.  The strips come with a buffer and small orange stick.  You are supposed to buff your nails first and ensure you have a nice clean surface.  After matching the correct sizes for each nail, you have to remove the front and back layers and stick it on the nail.  Then, you bring the extra over the tip of the nail and file the excess off.

As you can see, I was able to do well on my left hand.  My right hand, well we won't even go there, smh.  It was presentable though, so I was able to keep it on.

I was pleasantly surprised with how well the Salon Effects lasted.  Here is a pic on the fourth day!

Still looks great, no?
I did have a small chip on two of my nails on the right hand, but I was able to file those down to hide them.  Honestly, I think it had to do with the difficulty I had applying them.

I was so in love with this mani!  It was super cute and the perfect mani while away.  Removal wasn't bad either, it came off with regular polish remover.

Now to the actual trip!  Here is a view of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel where we stayed.

Isn't it pretty?
You can actually take a ride up the Eiffel Tower for a view of the city, which we did of course ;0).

A view of the strip from the top of the Tower.
The Bellagio was right across the street from us, so we made sure we got to see the water show.  I've seen clips of it on TV, but there's nothing like seeing it in person.  It was like the water was dancing to the music.  Amazing!!

This pic does it no justice!

We did lots of sightseeing with our daughter!

Some pics from the Shark Reef Aquarium in the Mandalay Bay Hotel.  Such a great aquarium.

We also visited the zoo.  Very interesting experience, lol.

I may have mentioned in the past that I'm a big foodie, so I definitely had fun eating lots of food.  Maybe too much food, smh.  Here are just two of the things that leave fond memories for me ;0).

Veggie Burger from The Sugar Factory with a side of onion rings.  The burger had olive mayo, feta cheese (I think), and fried onions.  So good!!!!

Salmon over leek quinoa from Bon Ami Gabi.  Mmmm....
I'm hungry just thinking about this food.

My all time favorite place to visit was The Sugar Factory, which was the most awesome candy shop/restaurant.  I am not big on candy, but I do have a big sweet tooth and I love desserts.

Beautiful cupcakes!  Red velvet, chocolate, lemon, oh my!

More gelato

More candy!

This was my breakfast on the last day.  Nutella chocolate chip pancakes!!!!

They had some of the best shakes ever!!  I had about two a day, lol.

Very Berry Blast

Sugar Malt
Let's just say, I'll be watching what goes into my mouth and probably doing some extra exercise these next few weeks.

Of course, my trip wouldn't be complete without getting nail polish.  Here are the polishes I picked up:

Cosmetic Arts Pink, Coral, and Dark Purple (first time getting this brand, there were no names on them),  Maybelline Color Show Denim Dash and Pinkalicious,   Island Girl Mahalo Dream (my first from this brand),    Orly Fowl Play,  Ulta Red Carpet Red and Sweetheart Pink, Ulta OPI Exclusives The Flowers Are Blue-Ming! and Pack Your Booty Shorts,    China Glaze Flirty Tankini and Electric Beat.

Thanks to my hubby for this pic of my beauties against the view from our room ;0).
I got the Cosmetic Arts from Ross (my first time visiting that store), the Maybelline from Walgreen's, Island Girl from ABC Stores, and the Orly, Ulta, OPI, and China Glaze from Ulta.  Yep, I finally got to visit Ulta and I was in nail polish heaven, heehee!

When I took the pic, I forgot that I also picked up a few polishes from H&M:

And I returned home to some awesome nail mail!

The New Cult Nails collection, Zoya Pinterest Trio, my first Funky Nails polish (Vibrant), Lilacquer  Encantado and Bakenko, and Lacquer Convention Galinda.

Needless to say, I was a bit overwhelmed by all my new polishes and didn't even know where to start.  I'm still figuring that out.

I had an awesome time and am still very tired because of the time difference, but it was a great experience and it's good to be back to share with you all, as well as catch up on your posts.

If you made it through all of this, thanks so much for reading!!
