Revlon - Fire Fox (Matte Suede)

Hi everybody!!!  It's another Twinsie Tuesday ;0).

Today's theme is to swatch a matte polish.  Now, those of you who have been reading my blog for some time know that I wasn't too happy about this one.  Matte is definitely not my thing.  My polish needs to be glossy!  Always!  However, that's one of the things I like most about Twinsie Tuesday, it forces me out of my comfort zone.

At first, I thought to myself, "well I don't have any matte in my stash and I'm certainly not going to buy a matte just for this."  Then I remembered, that I picked up a Revlon that was on sale once for  $1 and figured I would give it to someone.  I couldn't pass up a good deal.  That was my choice for this theme.

Fire Fox is a gorgeous red shimmer that dries to a matte finish.  The formula was slightly runny, but manageable.  The first coat was streaky, but it leveled out nicely with the second coat.  I didn't completely hate this polish because it's truly a pretty polish, but it was hard for me not to put on a top coat.

For these pictures, I used OPI Natural Nail Base Coat and 2 coats of Fire Fox.

I actually kept this on for a few hours and it wasn't so bad.  It's a really pretty red, so that helped ;0).

What do you guys think of Fire Fox?  Are you into matte?

  1. Matte has it's place in the world, just not on the end of my fingers LOL That being said, I'm not always choosing for myself - so I always have to b open to decide which ones look best for my clients

  2. I'm just now getting into matte polishes. I really enjoy the matte suede line from Revlon, I got Emerald City a few months ago, it's a beautiful deep shimmer green color. I've not seen this one though, I'll have to be on the lookout for it. Did you gloss it to see what it looked like?? ^_^

    1. No, I didn't try to add a top coat because I wanted to try to do it matte only. I will be doing that in the future though, heehee ;0).

  7. This one looks particularly pretty even tho is matte. I'm not really into matte polishes I prefer things shiny and sparkly.

  8. This is nice!! :D I like having regular polish with a matte top coat, that way I can choose whether or not I want to matte what I am wearing.

  9. I like matte polishes, but I don't like the chipping it comes with and sometimes I want my polish to be shiny, glossy, or sparkly. So it depends on what I'm in the mood for. This one is super pretty though!

  10. I love matte! I tend to make everything matte because I'm curious about how it looks. I especially like it with shimmers and flakies. Not that crazy about red, but love it matte!

    1. Thanks!! I agree, it is beautiful. I didn't leave it on long enough for it to chip though. Just a few hours.

  12. This was the first matte I ever bought and I loved the color (and I still love it!) but it chipped like crazy. I hope I just had a dud bottle because this color is beautiful on you.

But I'm with you, the shinier the better!

    1. I didn't wear it long enough to find out about the chipping. But you weren't the only one to say that. Hmmm... It's still pretty though ;0)

  16. I like how it's not too matte haha. The red is really pretty. I like matte sometimes...over certain colors. I like it best with black or a nude. This looks pretty nice though. Haha, I like that you said these Twinsie Tuesdays get you out of your comfort zone lol. I guess that's kind of fun :D
