Deborah Lippmann - Stripper To Go (Review)

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!  I hope you're having a great Wednesday!

I was recently contacted by Nail Polish Canada regarding doing a review of the Deborah Lippmann polish remover finger mitt called Stripper to Go.  This is an individually packed disposable mitt that contains nail polish remover.  It's supposed to be great for using when on the go or when travelling.

According to the description on Nail Polish Canada's website, one mitt is enough to remove all the polish on every single finger.

When I first tried the mitt, I had a jelly sandwich manicure, which includes lots of glitter.  I thought it would be interesting to try this because we all know how difficult glitter removal is.

The mitt

Over the first nail
While the mitt is over the nail, you need to rub the polish off on the nail with your other hand.

After the first few nails.  I had to do a lot of work because of the glitter.

I made it to my third nail before giving up.  It was just too much work with the glitter.
For my second attempt with the Stripper to Go mitt, I had only nail polish on my nails.

Take 2
Just polish!

Nail polish removed on all 10 fingers with one mitt.
Stripper To Go did a really good job of removing the polish.  The mitt was very saturated with nail polish remover (which smells like lavender and is a bearable smell), so it tends to run down your fingers a bit.  I used my fingers to rub off the polish and it came off quickly.  By the time I got to my last two fingers, it was a bit more difficult to remove the polish because there wasn't as much remover left and a lot of polish was inside the mitt.

I think this is great for traveling.  Instead of having to walk with lots of cotton balls and a bottle of remover, you can have these thin packets that don't take up much space.

Stripper To Go can be purchased online at Nail Polish Canada here.  The cost is $12 and each box contains 6 mitts.  The price is a bit steep for me, considering you can get a bottle of polish remover for approximately $1.50 and a large bag of cotton balls for the same amount.  I think it's definitely worth having these around if you plan to change your polish while traveling though.

Stripper To Go contains no toluene, DBP or added formaldehyde.

What do you guys think of Stripper To Go?  Is it something you would purchase?

  1. I just tried this for the first time last night! I had glitter on so didn't remove it that easily but I image it would work really well just a creme polish.

    1. Yes, it's much better for a creme or jelly.

  2. i think the idea is great, i've tried nail polish remover pads and they are a tradegy... a saturated mitt seems like a much better choice. the thing i find strange is that it looks like a condom packet and is called the stripper to go... when i just looked at the photo my first thought was... huh? maybe my mind is just in the gutter today!

    1. Wow!! I never made that connection. I don't think that was the intention though, lol. I hope not anyway.

  3. I have one of these that came with my DL order.

I am yet to try it, but I imagined it should work for regular polishes. Glitters are naturally a pain to remove anyway.

    Lovely review. :-)

  4. Thanks for the review! I don't think I'd buy these--I'll either go buy a cheap bottle of remover where I'm at or use the LA Colors pads, which are cheap and travel well (and I can use as many as I need). :)

  5. Interesting idea, but not cost effective. I also have super sensitive skin do the dripping concerns me. I like the idea though of to-go removers.

    1. The dripping may definitely affect your skin. I too think it's a great idea!! I will be walking with a couple on my next trip.

  6. I'm not sure I would like this. Doesn't the polish you just removed go on your fingers? I don't like to use the same area of the cotton pad for the next finger because the previously removed polish goes all around my nail, on my cuticles and finger. Hope you understand what I mean :)

    1. Yep, I understand! But no, the polish didn't get all over my nail. It's actually amazing that that didn't happen.

  8. Wow this is an interesting product. I do like that it's travel friendly and seemed to do well with just having polish on. I agree with you that the price is a bit steep, but still really great for saving space while traveling!
