Color Club Revvvolution/ OPI My Private Jet (Twinsie Tuesday)

Hi everyone!!  Happy Valentine's Day!  Even to you Valentine's haters ;0).  Love to you guys too!  I don't have any plans today.  It will just be another day for me.  I'm okay with that though.  It will still be a good day ;0).

Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is to swatch a famous dupe.  I actually had to refer to Amanda's blog to get some ideas of what to swatch for this post because I had no idea what to do.  Since I have both Color Club Revvvolution and OPI My Private Jet (listed as dupes), I decided I'd swatch those two.

Revvvolution was a lemming of mine for a while and I finally purchased it from 8ty8 Beauty a little over a month ago. It's a gunmetal gray, almost black, polish with silver holographic shimmer.  The holo in this polish is pretty subtle, but when it catches the light it's gorgeous!

The formula of Revvvolution is excellent.  It's not too thick or thin and applies evenly and smoothly.  It's opaque in one coat, but I prefer two for my manis, so that's what I used.  In the pictures below, I used OPI Natural Nail base coat, 2 coats of Revvvolution, and Seche Vite fast dry top coat.

Based on what I've read, Revvvolution is a dupe from the original version of My Private Jet.  However, I don't have the original.  At least I don't think so, based on my knowledge.  So I went with what I do have.

My Private Jet is a dark brown base with scattered holographic shimmer.  The formula was very good for this polish.  It applied evenly and smoothly and was opaque in one coat.    For these pictures, I used OPI Natural Nail base coat, 2 coats of My Private Jet, and Seche Vite fast dry top coat.

As you can see, My Private Jet and Revvvolution look similar in Natural light, but My Private Jet is the darker of the two.  Also, while they both have holographic shimmer, Revvvolution is a linear holo, while My Private Jet is a scattered one.  I like them both, but dare I say I prefer Revvvolution :-/ ?

What do you guys think of these two?  Do you have any of these?  What's your preference?

  4. I love Revvvolution! And some people may think I'm crazy but I actually prefer the dud version of My Private Jet. The original was too holographic for my taste haha.

  7. Uuuugh, I was so disappointed when OPI changed MPJ to a scattered polish. They should have just retired it instead of selling is as the same thing. Revvvolution is beautiful though, I wonder how it stacks up to Hits Zeus.

  10. Revvvolution is one of my favorite Color Club polishes! It's so beautiful and the formula is really great. I don't have OPI My Private Jet, the dud or the holo.

  14. Great choice!! I have a super dud version of MPJ, and a version of Revvvolution that doesn't appear to be the super holographic original. I love holos, so I'm all about Revvvolution. :)
