Jelly Sandwich Anyone?

Hi fellow nail polish lovers!!  Happy Saturday!!

I decided to try a jelly sandwich for the first time.  For those who haven't heard of this mani before, a jelly sandwich is when a layer of glitter is sandwiched between two layers of polish.  Typically, there is a base color, a layer of glitter, and a jelly polish over the glitter.

For this manicure, I used Revlon's Plum Seduction as my base.  I then layered E.L.F.'s Golden Goddess (a clear base with fine and medium, circular gold glitter).  I then layered Forever 21 Love & Beauty's Magenta.  Finally, I topped it with Seche Vite fast dry top coat.

I'm reallly happy with the way this mani came out.  I have quite a few pics, because I wanted you to see it from diffferent angles to get the full effect.  Here they are:

Hope you like it as much as I do.

Have you tried a jelly sandwich mani before?  I plan to do a lot more of these.

  4. Just gorgeous! I see you have quite a few of the larger glitter pieces on the nail. In my Golden Goddess bottle, they are all on the bottom and I can't get them out.

  5. Ooooohhhh pretty!!! I am so intrigued by this jelly sandwich technique that is still so new to me! Makes me want to try it! :) My question is how can you tell what consitutes a "jelly" to put on top? Do you just make sure it is slightly see-through so the glitter shows through undeneath?

  7. Thanks H!!!

Thanks Mihaela!! Sorry about your glitter. The big ones go throughout my bottle. Maybe you didn't get a good one :(.

Angie, I think you're right. You have to find lighter jellies that will allow the glitter to show through. Also, I think the glitter needs to be just right also. If it's too fine, it won't have the same effect.

Mary, thank you!! You should definitely try it. I'd love to see the result.

  13. Hey I just stumbled on your blog! I have a question... what exactly is a jelly? I live in England so maybe we call it something different here (assuming you don't live here too!) NIce blog, new follower :)

  14. Hi Wig! Thanks for reading ;0). A jelly is polish with a gooey like consistency, reminiscent of the texture of the jelly you eat. Hope this makes sense.
